Bobby Marks, Jr. was a bright, athletic kid who had a ton of friends and excelled at every activity he pursued. The Town of Braintree’s school system and youth sports programs served Bobby well through his early years as he learned not only academics, but teamwork, friendship, perseverance and courage.

Bobby passed away in his sleep without warning on May 7, 2006 at the age of 26. He had suffered from a rare lung tumor and had part of his lung removed. Despite his surgery and follow-up tests, the tumor returned and we lost our precious Bobby. We were truly blessed to have Bobby for 26 years and we thank God for that every day.

A Scholarship Fund was instituted in May 2006 as a way to honor our son Bobby’s memory. We wanted to give back to Braintree and honor Bobby’s spirit of generosity.

The Bobby Marks, Jr. Memorial Fund was established by family and friends to commemorate Bobby’s life, by recalling the enthusiasm with which he lived it and the love he shared with others. Devastated by this tragic loss, his family and friends wanted to do something to memorialize the wonderful person that Bobby was and bring the joy that he gave them to others.

Bobby is happily remembered for his playful smile, his contagious laugh, and his generosity. Our goal is to make the organization as unique as the young man who forever changed our lives. The primary mission is to fund several scholarships at Braintree High School in Bobby’s memory for students in need of financial assistance. To date, we have awarded almost $77,000 in Scholarship money. The Fund also supports other worthy causes that are representative of those that Bobby cherished during his life.

We are extremely grateful for your continued support and thank you for your generosity!
